St. Mortiz train station(s)?
 

I would like to take Glacier Express from Zermatt to St Mortiz. Wonder this St Mortiz station the same one for going back to Zurich?

From the glacier express web, the train will arrive St Moritz at around 6:30pm. Will it be possible for me to get on the train from St Moritz to Zurich, departing at 7:02pm?

There is only one main rail station in St. Moritz. Yes, you can depart for the train to Zurich and it will leave from the same station where your GE train arrived.

Maybe you know what you're doing, but let me get this straight. You're taking the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz and not staying there at all, but simply leaving immediately for Zurich???

I would suggest you consider taking the Glacier Express only as far as Chur if you are going on to Zurich the same day. In the winter it would be after dark before you arrived in St. Moritz.

Thanks, it's a good suggestion! I think I will take GE as far as Chur. Have checked the rail schedule, it's closer to Zurich and I can arrive there earlier.

Oh, Patrick, I have considered the idea of staying there for a night, but it seems that it's just like another expensive ski resort, but with even more expensive accomodation. Hence I would like to get back to Zurich (or elsewhere) for a cheaper accomodation + opportunity to see some new stuffs. :)

The Engadin (the area St. Moritz is located in) is one of the most spectacular parts of the Alps - you could easily spend a week there!

In addition, Zurich is hardly a cheaper place to stay, unless you're travelling during the peak ski season. Anyway, there's no reason to pick a hotel right in St. Moritz, there are other towns nearby with more affordable lodging (Sils, Silvaplana, Pontresina...).

If you're just looking for a scenic train ride from Zermatt to Zurich, perhaps it makes more sense to get off the Glacier Express route at Göschenen and take a direct train from there to Zurich, thereby shortening your journey somewhat while still taking in the most scenic parts of the journey. While this allows you to shorten your journey time by about 2 hours, it does involve more train changes (minimum of 2 train changes).

One of the "highlights of the GE route between Chur and St. Moritz is passing over the Landwasser viaduct.

I agree that you can easily change from the GE at Chur for the trip onward to Zurich and I have done this duing the time of year when there is less daylight...but if you are doing this trip when there IS enough daylight the section Chur-St. Moritz is quite scenic.
