St. Moritz, Switzerland
Here's a neat hotel we just stayed in if you're interested. Hotel Monopol, l7 via Maistra,
CH 7500, St. Moritz. Tel # 0ll-4l-8l-833-4433,
Fax 0ll-4l-8l-837-0405. We had a huge, elegant room with corner alcove, great view. It's a 4 star hotel, kinda pricey. Neat little town to walk around in and shop. HOrseback riding available, dressage lessons too which my friend took.

I'll be in St.Moritz for the first time on Oct.10th. I'll have an afternoon free there.....do you have any suggestions of "must see" places or a restaurant for lunch?

Richard Vicek Aug 9th, 1998 07:38 AM

good morning, Sue
The only suggestion, I would have is to take the RhB over the Bernina Pass to Tirano and return for some beautiful scenery ...RICHARD OF HICKORY HILLS, IL...

To: Richard of Hickory Hills, IL...thank you for always responding to a couple of my questions now... you are very helpful. I was born in LaGrange, IL and now live in Steamboat Springs, CO--Ski Town, USA! Anyway, what is the RhB??? And why not stay in St.Moritz?

Richard Vicek Aug 11th, 1998 11:55 AM

Good afternoon, Sue
The RhB is the Rhatische Bahn, is the small narrow gauge railway which runs out of St. Moritz, thru Samedam, down to Tirano and over the Bernina Pass, up to Chur, Schuls, Davos, Landquart and Disentis.
It is the main method of transportation within this area.
I did not mean to imply not to stay in St. Moritz, we have stayed there about two or three times at the Hotel STEFFANI, which when we were there had a wonderful room with an excellant view, their ristorante was also very good at the time....
Small world, most of my brothers and family move west, many years ago and settled in Littleton and Denver after stints in Grand Lake and Loveland.
Any more information -----www.snoweb.se/zermatt/
www.rail.ch/-----www.bluewin.ch/
Richard of Hickory Hills, Il....
Sue, have been gone again and just saw your questions. No I don't remember names of particular restaurants. The area is a little pricier than other Swiss places we've been to so just be prepared for that. The lake and surrounding mountains are absolutely beautiful if you have a car, or do the train trip as mentioned above. Have a great time.
