St. Moritz hotel suggestion
Hello
I will be travelling to St. Moritz with my husband, 12 & 15 year old and would like a suggestion for a hotel. I am looking for a hotel that is reasonably priced that would accommodate 4 people.....Does that even exist? Thanks! Michelle |
Hi Michelle,
I haven't stayed in this hotel, but it has been recommended by someone I trust: http://www.waldhaus-am-see.ch/was/home/ I do want to suggest that you give a specific figure for your hotel budget -- what's "reasonably priced" for one person may be extravagent for another. s |
I have always stayed in the lovely little town of Silvaplana, on the south shore of the lake and just a couple of miles from St Moritz. The Hotel Albana is very nice and has a great restaurant.

I would also recommend staying outside St Moritz in a town like Pontresina, Celerina or Sivlaplana. St Moritz is not actually that charming a city (and Switzerland is a country that has so many charming towns it is a shame to spend time in one that isn’t), is built on quite a steep hill and it is very expensive. The other towns offer more in terms of access to walks and nature and better value in terms of hotels. Can you give me a price range.

I have stayed in St. Moritz many times and at many different hotels from no star to five star. My all time favorite is the Waldhaus am See. First of all it's right on the lake so it's quiet as well as picturesque. And because it's right on the lake it's a great starting point for many walks. The food is terrific. I would take the half pension meal plan. I especially like that they always have a vegetarian entree available for those like me who don't eat meat. There is a nice lounge for after dinner and, although I haven't been there with children, I believe they may have an activity room that would be of interest to youngsters. The downside is that for most of the year they require a week long stay beginning on a specific day of the week (I think Saturday). There are certain times when this is not in effect and you can stay for only a few days which is what we did twice. If you do stay for the week they offer lots of extra activities including some interesting things that your kids may like.
