St Marks & Doges Questions
If we make a reservation at St. Mark's do we bypass any line?
Is the Secret Itineraries tour worthwhile? (we aren't generally tour people) If we don't take the tour about how much time do you think we'd spend there? thanks! |
Great questions, I'm also interested in the answers.

yes the secret itineraries tour is well worth it! you will see parts of the palace that you would not be able to see without this tour...such as casanovas cells..the torture chamber..much more...plus have a guide to give you detailed information. The tour is not really long and you will be able to tour the rest of the palace on your own afterwards. Most likely your hotel can make the reservation for you.
About St Marks...it depends on what time of year and time of day you go...We went just this past November and had no trouble walking right in. Yet, at other times I have heard the line can be massive. |
Hi K,
>Is the Secret Itineraries tour worthwhile? We thought so. It is a lot of walking up steps in crowded quarters, though. We went to Venice in August 2006. The Doge's Palace Secret Itineraries Tour was interesting and went places we couldn't otherwise go. We booked in advance from Australia (possibly on the internet).
We also pre-booked St Mark's by internet before leaving Australia. The line was very long when we got there and we were able to jump the queue - just had to show the printout of our booking. When it first opens may not be as bad, but once the day trippers start coming in from cruises and bus tours then the lines get long. |
