There was a German language news report that the cleanup work in the St. Gotthard tunnel has so far turned up no additional unfortunates who did not escape the fire. (The number of deaths still stands officially at 11.) On the other hand, 9 people are still listed as missing. <BR>The Office of the Public Prosecutor (Staatsanwaltschaft) will be conducting an investigation all of next week at the center of the accident. <BR>There was no mention at all of any anticipated date for reopening the tunnel. <BR>Given the fact that one of the trucks involved in the accident was operating without the proper authorization, my guess is that the legal proceedings will be very long and complicated.
