I'm disappointed to learn of that bakery on Rue de Buci closing. We picked up breakfast there several mornings when we were in Paris last summer.

You aren't far from Poilane bakery on Rue du Cherche-Midi. I love their apple tarts!!

Padams421:Yes, it's very sad that the bakery is gone. I remember back when I was staying at Hotel de Seine...1981-1990, and every morning the most delicious croissants were served, back when breakfast was automatically included in the price of a hotel room.

I asked the manager what bakery the croissants were from and it was as if it were top secret. Then after we became close friends, over the years, the cat was finally let out of the bag and I was told that they were from the bakery on rue de Buci. I've gotten my croissants there, along with at Poilane, every since. I just don't feel like getting up in the morning and having to either get on the metro at Mabillon and go one stop to Sevres Babylone to get to Poilane or walk the stretch when the rue Buci bakery was a 2-minute walk from rue de Seine at rue Buci. Paris1953: I second Le Temps Perdu at 54 rue de Seine. Have eaten there for many years and have never had a bad meal. Ate there two nights in a row, the week before Easter, and the food was as perfect as ever. Tried to go to Fish, but didn't have a reservation and it was booked solid, so went across the street to Le Temps Perdu and had no problem getting in. Later in the evening it started to fill up. I try arriving at 7PM in order to both get a table and to get my order in as it takes about 30 minutes to get the food to the table, but it's well worth the wait. Happy Travels!
