St. Germain de pres Restaurants
We will be staying at The Madison Hotel across from St. Germain de Pres next week in Paris. We are interested in eating in the neighborhood around the hotel in the evenings. Maybe a nice Jazz venue afterwards.Cost is a concern something creative but not expensive. Any idea's appreciated

You can accomplish both--the dinner and the Jazz--if you dine at L'Arbuci, 25 rue de Buci.
The food is pretty straightforward--seafood and plainly prepared meats--but it's pretty good. They have jazz downstairs almost every night. |

We found an adorable and really cheap little fondue restaurant on one of the tiny side streets off St Germain--on the *other* side of St Germain from the Madison--that had many other dishes than fondue and a cheap but good prixe fixe (sp?) menu. If you wander around, you will find it too. For us, the fun of just searching for places was half the fun of dinner. We found many great and cheap places last March when we were there in that neighborhood. Also, there is a great cafe called Indiana on St Germain that has "happy hour" starting at 5 w/half price drinks. It may sound odd, but the best Margaritas I have ever had, have been in Paris!!
