St. Ermins Hotel, London
 

Has anyone stayed at the St. Ermins Hotel on Caxton Street in London? Any information on this hotel is appreciated. Also, I am planning to be in London over Thanksgiving and have received some recommendations for High Tea (The Ritz, The Savoy, Harrods, etc.) and would like more. Any ideas are welcome. Thank you! I've stayed at the St. Ermins Hotel twice, with the most recent stay being earlier this year. Its in a great location right around the corner from the St. James tube station. The hotel building has lots of history, having been a converted monastery. Lots of marble and a big fireplace in lobby. (Which will come in handy for Thanksgiving weather) Very helpful and friendly staff and english breakfast included in most packages. St. Ermins is a favorite upgrade for many airline travel packages. Only thing to be aware, the rooms are small, about the size of a good office cubicle (at least if you get a single) All-in-all, I've been very satisfied and plan to return.

<BR>in may i took my mom and myself to the <BR>meridien for tea. It was recommended <BR>by a woman who writes and consults on <BR>tea and did a presentation at our local <BR>tea shop. She had just trained the staff <BR>there. It was real nice, very peaceful <BR>and yummy and the tea was great. It is <BR>conveniently located right across the <BR>st. on Picadilly from Fortnum and Mason <BR>so you can buy their excellent tea as <BR>well as any other goodies. They make <BR>great gifts too. St. Ermine's is a great hotel. The staff is very professional and the rooms are well maintained (yes they are on the small side). Claridge's has a great high tea! Have fun.

According to a survey of local people and tourists, Britain's Tea Council has announced that the best teas in London are served by the Four Seasons Hotel on Park Lane. As a result, it now boasts the title ``London's 1999 Top Tea Place of the Year.'' Two other luxury hotels, the Rubens and the Savoy, tied for second place, with the Dorchester following close behind.

We were treated to tea by a local at the Maids of Honour across from Kew Gardens. It was great, and the shop was charming. Later I read in a guidebook that the shop has been in operation since the time of Henry VIII.

My Mom and I had tea at the Orangerie next to Kensington Palace. I had read something about the Orangerie from a previous post on this site. There was a thread a while back I believe that discussed places for tea. We really enjoyed the Orangerie. You didn't say anything about going outside of London, but if you go to Bath, be sure and have tea at Sally Lunn's.
