Spring Break trip from London. Suggestions?

I'll be joining my daughter in London early March for a week before spring break from her winter Regent's College semester, and then I thought 4-5 days out of town. She had suggested Wales, Scotland, or Ireland, but she might welcome warmth and sunshine by then.

We've had time together in France, so, maybe: Seville? EasyJet flies there from London. Cadiz and the ocean nearby. Chance for me to dust off high school Spanish. We're low budget, enjoy local culture types, and have never been to Iberian peninsula.

Anywhere else cheap and diverting?

I think you may be mistaken in assuming that the weather will be warm and sunny that early in the year. I visited Andalucia in March a few years ago - it was mainly cool and rainy (and was certainly not cheap due to the poor GBP/Euro exchange rate).

Ha! Thanks, Gordon. Bathing suit weather not necessary. Too cold and rainy to walk on the beach, even? I was hoping for warm and sunny relative to March in the UK. As US Midwesterners it's a thrill to be by water wider than the Mississippi, but a beach is not essential.

well in early March the average high is 68 degrees - downright balmy to a frozen midwesterner - later in the month of course warmer.

and I think Seville is an excellent choice - superb choice - no beach there but some not far away like at Cadiz, another ancient city but right on the water - Seville itself is great for some days but also offers easy day trips by bus or train if not car to Jerry de la Frontera for tours on fancy wine houses and sessions of practice for the famous Andalusia Horses and also buses to the famous white perched villages between Seville and Ronda.

Excellent choice for March IMO - in summer this area is way too hot - perfect timing - if Easter there are large processions.

I agree Southern Spain would be a great place to go! We were there a bit later in March but it will still be much warmer than the UK. My daughter studied last Jan-May in Rome and they went to Ireland in early March and it was FREEZING (though she fell in love with Dublin), so I would imagine your daughter might like something a bit warmer.

Oh, good. Thank you, Pal and jgg! I think Seville it is, then.
