Sports Bars in Kensington for World Cup Finals?

Are there any around Kensington High Street with high-definition TVs?

Preferably with at least a non-smoking section?

Don't know about Kensington High Street, but Forum Hotel on Cromwell Road has big screen and a large bar; around the corner Stanhope Arms has huge, noisy sports crowd.

scrb - any TV in the UK will be "high def" compared to the States. It is a different system and just normal run-of-the-mill telly's are much sharper than what we have.

You're talking about the difference between PAL and NTSC.

But I'm talking about HDTV which offers more detail than either PAL or NTSC, approximately 6 times the resolution of NTSC.

I'm guessing BBC may show it in PAL but Sky would show it in HDTV.

So I have to find a place which shows Sky and has big plasma screens.

BBC are showing the world cup in HDTV. Sky have not shown any of the World cup as it has to be shown on "Free" television.

Sorry I cannot help you with exact locations. HDTV is very new in the UK - The World cup is virtually the first thing being shown, and I know there is a shortage of "Decoders" for the HD satellite feed.

Well I've found elsewhere that there are 5 Odeon theaters showing the matches on high-definition on one of their screens. They must have a digital projector.

But the one in Leicester Square is charging over 12 pounds per person for the Semi Finals!

There are other bars advertising having plasma screens. But who knows if they're hooked up for high-def.
