Sport coat needed?
 

Do I need a sport coat in June for anything??? Is it cool in the evenings? Do any restaurants except the most expensive require this dress???? (Rome and Tuscany)

Sport coats not required. If it's cool in the evenings, a sweater or light jacket/windbreaker is do.

A sport coat - more stylishly referred to as a jacket or blazer (although the latter conjures up images of a navy and brass button affair) - is simply much more elegant in the evening, and allows you to wear a more casual top underneath.

For the evening, I'd never ever wear a shirt and trousers/jeans on their own unless the shirt was very fitted, otherwise it looks inelegant and crying out for a jacket over the top. However, I still think it's much more stylish to wear a t-shirt (made of fine cotton) with a jacket over the top.

Dress for your venue. If you are eating in casual restaurants, your husband will not need a sport coat. (Rome should be hot in June.) I really can't comment, however, because I have no idea where you are dining. You will see many older, well-heeled tourists (male) wearing sport coats in the restaurants on the Via Veneto. You will see many male tourists in shirtsleeves in the casual trattorias of Trastevere. If your husband doesn't want to bring a sport coat, you have PLENTY of dining options, sweetie.
