Spoleto Restaurants

We're spending 2 nights in Spoleto. Do any of you have recommendations for favorite, "Do not miss" restaurants we should try?

Hi,

Can't help with Spoleto, but nearby Spello has a wonderful restaurant, Il Molino! Need res, closed Mondays.

We enjoyed Il Tempio Del Gusto and Trattoria La Torretta. Both were very good! Order some type of pasta Spoletina while you are there...yummy and a little spicy!

Truly "don't miss":

Cantina de' Corvi
http://www.cantinadecorvi.it/index.p...e&lang=eng

We are real "foodies" and this was one of the best meals my wife and I have ever had -- for a mere 100 euros (including 2 bottles of wine).

Primi:
-- Tagliatelle with black truffles (astounding!)
-- Gnocchi with ragu (good)

Secondi:
-- Ossobuco “my way” (incredible!)
-- Pig' Saddle cooked at low temperatures with Parsley Potatoes and Annurche Apples (wonderful!)

Desserts:
-- An assortment platter of "small bites" that surpassed the similar offering from a Michelin 3-star.
-- A cream-filled chocolate cake that was divine (not exactly the most accurate description, but you just have to try it to understand)
-- A scrumptious vanilla gelato

Wines:
Be sure to try a top quality Montefalco (dry) red and a Trebbiano Spoleto
(Pass on the Montefalco sweet red.)

Not recommended: il Tartufo

The food was fine, but nowhere near the quality of Cantina de' Corvi and a meal with primi (one of which was a tagliatelle with white truffles, adding about 30 euros to a typical primo), secondi, and dessert and two bottles of wine was 150 euros.

We were here November 2, 2008 and both the black and white truffles from the area were on the menu. So, if you want to try truffles, you may want to come here. (Black truffle dishes were about 30-35 euros and white truffle dishes were about 45 euros.) Our tagliatelle with white truffles was a straight up, credible prepared offeriing of truffles, but no profound preparation.

inneedofadvice,
Try Osteria di Matto right off Piazza Mercanto.
