Hi

I was wondering how long does it take by car to get to Plitvice from Split ?

Are there any day-trips excursions leaving Split?

If you ever done it, can you please share with me the tour operator that you used.

you may want to consider Krka - similiar to Plitvice, located near Sibenik.

Hi,

When we inquired, there were some day trip excursions leaving from Trogir (via the travel agency at Villa Sikaa in Trogir for 4 people minimum in a minibus). We were advised Krka is closer and that there were more places offering a day trip to Krka.

Since we were only two people, we decided to take the bus from Split to Plitvice (it stops by enroute to Zagreb). It took about 4.5 hours (it was raining when we went, so that may have added to driving time). Buses leave from platform 1 at the Split bus terminal and when we were there in August, buses came every hour. If you have luggage and do end up taking the bus, from the drop off point on the road you can walk on the road the same direction as the bus stop you get off at and then cross the road to the other side once you see the opening for the cars which pull into the hotels for a shorter walk (rather than heading over the immediate walk path to the right side which goes up and down some stairs).

However, a couple that we met did the drive from Zagreb to Plitvice (3 hours) and then Plitvice to Split (4 hours) and then Split to Dubrovnik. They enjoyed the drive and said the roads were manageable.
