Split-Hvar-Dubrovnik

I will be travelling to Croatia mid August with 4 other young adults. We would like to stay in Split,Hvar and Dubrovnik. What is the best way to do this itinerary? I though catamaran to Hvar and then I reach a roadblock. Is there a direct catamaran to Dubrovnik? Is it quicker to go back to Split and fly from there. I already have a flight to dubrovnik from split but wouldn't mind losing the money if there is a better way. Our time is limited and we would like to get as much out of the time as possible. Please help! Thank you,Donna

Flying from Split to Dubrovnik? It'll be quicker and a lot more scenic by bus.
From Hvar to Dubrovnik, you can use Jadrolinija's twice-weekly coastal ship, or go via Split or Korcula.

My suggestion would be to stay in Trogir, rather than Split. Trogir is closer to the airport than Split, and is a more charming town, IMO. You can explore Split from there easily, as it is only about a half hour away by public bus.

From Split you can take the fast catamaran to Hvar, stay as long as you wish in Hvar, and then take the fast cat back to Split. It is easy to catch a bus from Split down to Dubrovnik. It takes about 4.5 hours by bus, and it is a wonderfully scenic drive. Sit on the right side of the bus so you can look down the cliffs to the small villages below, and view the incomparable scenery.

You will LOVE Croatia!

I absolutely agree with Nukesafe.
In fact, that's exactly what we did last May. We stayed in Trogir for a couple of nights with daytrips to Split (30 min by bus) and Krka National Park (1.5 hr with the privately hired cabdriver), then took the fast catamaran to Hvar, stayed 2 nights there, and went back to Split.
From there we took a bus and headed to Dubrovnik. It took us about 4-4.5 hrs.
If not the inconvenient catamaran schedule we would have gone from Hvar to Korsula and then from Korsula to Dubrovnik. To do that we needed to spend a night in Korsula which we couldn't do.

I agree as well. I personally didn't care for Split, although I certainly wouldn't suggest anyone not visit just based on my own opinion. But with that being said we found Trogir to be absolutely delightful; small and charming.
