Split: anyone delt with tour company Travel49 (also dba splitcity tours?)

considering spending a short time in split and evidently trogir/salona seem also to be worthwhile. Interested in cramming what I can: do some wandering on my own but I believe that Travel49 or a related company has n early morning tour *AM which could be a since oreintation for the rest of the day. Has anyone tried them?

We did use them for our first morning in Split (just this past May) and were pleased that we did. There were people promoting tours Peristyle but we walked a couple of blocks from that the Travel 49 office; I saw lots of folks with LARGE groups later and a tour guide; we ended up with only the three of us. It wasn't that long (maybe 1 1/2 hours)but was a helpful orientation. We also walked to the Mestrovic Gallery and were glad to see both the setting, the palace and the sculpture...we took a bus back.

I did not understand. the travel 49 office is where precisely. Were the large groups with travel49 initially or with this other organization Peristyle. Did you take the 8AM genral orientation tour or a different one? What was the price. Thank you

The Travel 49 office was a couple of blocks off the Peristyle heading towards the Golden Gate; it's on the left. We took a tour at 10:30am, as I recall. The other organizations were "hawking" their tours in the Peristyle and that's the ones I saw with large groups. I did not write down the price but my trip journal says "good buy".
