Spending the winter in Crete
Most of us think of Greece for blazing summers (in more ways than one) or the delightful spring and autumn seasons when the weather is often perfect, particularly the temperatures. Not everybody would necessarily think of wintering in Greece, at least not in the same location the whole time.
However, some English friends of mine who live in France, where the weather has been somewhat severe this winter, have rented a place in Crete for six weeks and are keeping up a running illustrated report about it. It is still in its early phases, but if anybody is interested, you can see what they are doing here: http://tinyurl.com/ygdsbt7 |
It's delightful Kerouac, thanks! I hope that they can "tweak" it a little so it's easier to start on Page 1 (since the latest page is always up front, and it's like coming in mid-point in a movie). I had quite a time to make the numeral 1 clickable, and then to go to page 2 you have to put "2" in the box. Do-able but fussy. GREAT PHOTOS!!

Oh, that's my fault -- let me make a new link.

Lovely thread, Kerouac. Thanks for pointing it out. If I could find a house in Paleochora, I'd buy it.

Kerouac,
What a wonderful thread! Makes me want to retire today and move to Crete right now (in my dreams, I'm afraid). Thanks for a winter vacation of the mind.. Paule |
I hope that is vodka in those glasses shown in the first photo, the glasses right next to those oranges which seemed to have leaped from a painting by Cezanne.
I couldn't imagine drinking water with my morning breakfast. It is obvious that your friends are British; they are too thin to be American. Cheers, Thin |
It looks and sounds like a delightful way to spend some winter months.
thanks, Yipper |
Are they going to get cut off by the strikes?
