spending 1 week in tuscany and the dolomites late october
we are looking for advice as to how to make the best use of our week in italy, considering the time of year. arriving and departing from milan, october 18 -25, we thought of renting a car, driving to florence, and then leaving the next day for cortina in the dolomites for the following 3 days. towards the end of the week we will drive to venice and remain there til our departure. we would appreciate any advice/suggestions as to where to go and where not to go. we love to walk for hrs but we but are not hikers. we are in our mid 50's. mostly looking to enjoy beautiful scenery and each other's company in beautiful surroundings.

Please help us not to believe you're a troll! Driving from Milan to Florence just for the night, and driving the next day back north to Cortina d'Ampezzo is just so crazy that I doubt you're going to get many serious replies unless, as I said, you do something to prove that you are not a troll.

Rent a car and drive Milan to Florence immediately after you get of the plane?
Also that last night I'd make sure you are back in Milan for your flight the next day. Not still staying in Venice.

I'm not sure why you will be in Venice during that time period but you may want to know that the Venice Marathon will be on Oct. 24. My husband & I will be traveling to Italy for the first time so that he may run the marathon. Because he has ran so many I am familiar with the obsticles it can create & thought you may want to be aware of your timing.
