Dingle

Lawchick's answer is that which any Irish native (other than a denizen of Doolin) would give. I concur.

challenge is on... Can you spend just one night in DINGLE....?

We went there for 2 nites on our Irish and Scottish itinerary and stayed on the Dingle penisula for 10 days.... amazingly beautiful.

In a dozen or so trips to Ireland over the past 10-years, I've never been to Dingle; although I've been invited to play golf at BallyBunion by a 'Life Member' there. My people came from west Limerick and from Mayo; so I usually target one of those Counties on each trip.

West Clare has also always been an attraction for me. I have the same surname as one of the Board members at Spanish Point Golf Links near Miltown-Malbay and the founder of a chain of Irish Pubs across Europe. He was from Lahinch: I met Himself at his Flagship Pub in Dublin in 1952.

Expand on your question: where are you coming from and where are you bound? For example, if you have a flight out of Shannon, I would have to go with Doolin. If you're going to play BallyBunion, visit Killarny or do the Ring of Kerry, it would have to be Dingle.

Dingle, without question. In my last 3 trips, though, I have stayed at both (for Cliffs of Moher at sunset and nearby golf reasons). If Doolin, look at Cullinans Guest House, if Dingle, you can't go wrong with Heatons or Greenmount House.
