specific metro question
I am staying at Hotel Verneuil and I need to meet a friend at the St. Paul metro exit.
Can I take the metro at Rue du Bac line #12 transfer to line #1 at Concorde and take the exit at St.Paul?

I have not gotten off of a metro train at St. Paul, but I know of no reason why you cannot go as planned. My only caution is that I am not sure if there is more than one exit from the St. Paul platform. Only one red M shows on the big Michelin map of Paris, so hopefully there is only one exit. Others, like Place de la Bastille, show several red M's, which indicate multiple exits. Perhaps you could meet in front of the church itself, which is only a few yards away.

The Concorde station is where 3 lines interface. (Lines 12, 8 and 1 meet there.) Just make sure you transfer to a Line 1 train headed in the direction of Chateau de Vincennes.

I don't see any other logical way to get from Rue de Bac to St. Paul.

St. Paul (Le Marais) is a really uncomplicated station because there is no correspondence there. Here's a really cool site to map your Paris Metro adventures:

http://www.subwaynavigator.com/subway_site/eng/accueil/fset_subway.htm

As you'll see, other city systems are there too, so it's worth a bookmark.
Happy Contrails!

IIRC, there's only one exit at St Paul station.
