Special Restaurant in Florence or Tuscany
#6
How about a special lunch at Ristoro di Lamole in the hills above Greve in Chianti? Food and service are both wonderful, and the cost is about 1/3 as much. We spent the better part of an afternoon soaking up the pasta, vino, sunshine and beautiful views.
With the savings, you can load up on their great olio and Lamole di Lamole Riserva Chianti to take back home and relive your meal many times over. Read about it on my blog below on Day Twelve (with pictures).
If you are staying in Florence, I also recommend a little restaurant near the Duomo called Ristorante Il Caminetto, maybe not for your "special" meal, but we all loved it. It's also on the blog. Indoor and outdoor seating. I can still taste the roasted potatoes. Reasonable prices there, too.

Hi
We ate here for our anniversary 1 year, the food was fantastic, pricey but fantastic. Reservations essential. Enjoy.

By "special" do you mean gourmet?
To this day my favorite meal of all time was in Florence ... near Piazzale Michelangelo ... it was a little "hole in the wall" trattoria with a terrace overlooking Florence. We ate Bruschetta, Pizza and downed two bottles of the house Chianti while we watched the sun set over Florence ... the food was not gourmet but the price was reasonable and the view breathtaking.

I will be traveling with my parents for their first trip to Italy. I want to take them somewhere special - maybe a farmhouse in the hills or in Chianti.
But I also welcome reports of your great "finds"!
