Special meal in Granada

Hello all,
We will be in Granada for my 60th birthday. We are also celebrating a victory over cancer. So we are looking for somewhere to have a special meal for two. We have tickets for the Alhambra on two nights. One at 8 p.m. and one at 5:30 p.m. We are flexible other than that. Does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere for a nice lunch or dinner. We would not want to go above $200 for the meal. We are happy to go after our Alhambra visit. Thanks for any ideas.

Many visitors to Granada that celebrate a special occasion dinner choose a restaurant with romantic, full frontal views of the Alhambra near the San Nicolás viewpoint in the former ancient Arab quarter of Albaicín. This spot, arguably, has the very most beautiful views of the Alhambra complex illuminated at night.

There are several options here, and I can't tell you which offers "the very best" dining experience these days, but I know the players--
You can peruse their menus and check their current online reviews.

Carmen de Aben Humeya (I remember that poster maitaitom liked it very much)

Estrellas de San Nicolás

Mirador de Morayma

Las Tomasas

Carmen el Agua

I don't recommend El Huerto de Juan Ranas, compared to those above.

I you can, eat outdoors as much as possible on your trip. If you go during times of nice weather, you should not be eating indoors at all.

Some of the restaurants mentioned above have terraces for outdoor dining, as does the Parador on the grounds of the Alhambra itself, facing the Generalife gardens.

We really enjoyed eating at a restaurant that started with Carmen (I think it may have been the first restaurant mentioned above) for dinner. It had an outstanding view of the Alhambra and the food was so much better than I expected. I thought it might be a "tourist trap" but we had a terrific time and would happily return.

Yes, it must have been the Carmen Aben Humaya.

A "carmen" in Granada is a whitewashed villa perched on a hill and hidden behind a tall, white wall, surrounded by cypress trees, with terraced gardens inside, planted with fruit trees and bougainvillea.
There are more cármenes in the Albaicín than in any other quarter of the city.

Thank you Maribel. I was hoping that you would respond to my query.

Our group of 6 dined at Las Tomasas a few days ago and it was spectacular, in food and view!! I would highly recommend that spot. It was not the easiest to find as the road in front is under construction and when you arrive it looks closed. But, you go down the stairs and it opens up to something beautiful. Enjoy your time in Granada! Congratulations on your birthday and cancer victory!
