Special Events--are there any in mid March in Istanbul?

Are there any special events occurring March 14-19 in Istanbul that I should find out about (and plan to attend)?

Dear Ignutah,

istanbul was selected as the culture capital of Europe for 2010. hence, there will be many events, but i have not found out where you can find a list. There was a nice article on the British Newspaper, The Guardian, yesterday, on this subject.

there is a monthly magazine and its web site, 'Istanbul Life' which you can check.

there are also interesting appearances of mostly western music groups at Babylon and Ghetto which you can also check from their own sites.

The Turkish, on-line ticketing company is called "Biletix" and you can find what's on, ticket prices, etc. on their site.

For some interesting post modern Turkish Sufi music, check 'Mercan Dede' on the web.

here's something my wife and i prepared recently. The quality is not that good because we had to reduce the pixels.

As otherchelebi mentioned, Istanbul (along with Pecs Hungary and Essen Germany) has been selected as one of the cities as the 2010 Culture Capital of Europe - you might find this website helpful in planning your trip. www.Istanbul2010.org We're visiting in May and plan on seeing The Treasures at Kremlin Palace exhibition at Topkapi Palace.

ENJOY!
