Speaking of Tea: If Anyone is Going to London......
There are some wonderful themed teas in London right now! Edgerton House in Kensington is doing a Mad Hatters Tea, maybe an old idea but the cakes and sandwiches look fabulous! And the Lanesbrough in Knightsbridge has a CRUELLA tea —how fun is that?

Friends will be in town this weekend, the kids (sub 30) are going a bit crazy no masks etc.

There are many good ones, especially in Harrods, but taht is quite pricey, i remember they did that there are many nice places inn Knightsbrigde

I love the afternoon tea at The Wallace Collection. Entry to the museum is free, the tea is in the courtyard.

Tea at Kensington Palace would be a lovely birthday treat, Starrs. What a nice thing to do!

Just make sure the Orangery has re-opened by the time of your visit. It has been closed for 2+ years for a major remodel/refurbishment. Was supposed to re-open this year but not sure what the current ETA is or whether covid lockdowns have affected the length/scope of the project.
If the Orangery is still closed, afternoon teas and other meals are being served in a temporary pavilion . . . not the same at all. |
I’m no expert on afternoon teas in London. We have been to a couple. Upon recommendation of this forum, we went to the Wallace Collection two years ago. It was absolutely the worst! The sandwiches were very dry, and the macarons were very OLD. They were so old (read HARD), a knife can’t even crack it. The server was convinced how BAD it was, they gave us a 10% discount. I expected a little more but oh well. We enjoyed the museum esp. the Manolo Blahnik exhibit immensely. It made the sting of afternoon tea experience bearable.

Late to this thread … but wanted to add the Victorian Afternoon Tea in the historic Morris Room of the Victoria & Albert Museum. Excellent! Reservations needed by email for the Morris Room. Other rooms available, but more crowded. I traveled to London for a few days in January 2020, before heading to Norway for a cruise to see the Northern Lights (amazing). Returning to London in June 2022, so suggestions on the thread very helpful for a new site for a High Tea! Wonderful suggestions!
