Spartacus_33's European Adventure

Message: Well... I'm back. Thanks to all of your who helped me plan the trip.

Special thanks to Wayne (although I didn't get a chance to stay at the hotels you suggested) and to Intrepid1. I stayed at the Acanthus in Munich as you recommended. Greg wants to know who you are so he can thank you too.

Click here for a little web site I threw together http://home.earthlink.net/~spartacus_33/

Thanks,
Spartacus_33

Welcome back.
How did the car perform in the awful weather.
I like the Acanthus, but nearly froze in late Sept '02 during O'Fest.

OMG Steve,
I forgot about that parking garage @ Acanthus - it was a nightmare.
I think my friends' recs about ED in June-Sept are valid.

Loved the website, the photos of Munich in the sanow, all the food photos, and the story of Diane's earrings. The new Beemer is awesome. Enjoy!

Munich in the snow.

I have a 1999 528i with summer tires.. so I already knew how helpless this car would be..... I was surprised. The only snow I had to drive in was at the castle, the autobahn was just wet. I took it up to 120 and WOW... what a rush, haven't done that since High School!

I am happy to hear that the Acanthus worked out for you and that overall your trip was successful. I'm always a bit reluctant to make hotel "recommendations" since everyone seems to have their own "requirements" when it comes to places to stay, myself included.

Cheers!

Thanks for the link to your website. The picture of Neuschwanstein is absolutely lovely. We will be there in a few months for the first time and I can't wait. We were in Munich in March of last year and it was beyond cold, but somehow the cold is more bearable in Europe than at home! Sounds like you had a great trip.

My favorite photo of Neuschwanstein is the one with my new car just below it. Many of my friends didn't see the castle in the picture, so I edited it this morning by drawing a circle around the castle......

Intrepid.... The people at the Acanthus want to know who you are.... you don't have to tell me.. you can e-mail them directly and mention that you are the one who sent Spartacus there... they'll know who I am.
