Spanish Pyrenees
My 60 year old mother wants to see the Pyrenees at the end of August. I don't know if I should plan an entire week near the mountains or if it is only worth a day or two. She does not hike or enjoy outdoor activities. She just loves looking at mountains. I imagine she would meet me in Barcelona and then drive from Barcelona to the mountains. The advice I am looking for is whether there are specific towns that would be great to spend a full week in, assuming that we would drive a considerable distance each day and return to the hotel. She is amenable to B&B and Paradores.
Thank you in advance! |
Consider Andorra, one small Principality bordered by France and Spain.

Spain has pensiones rather than B & B's and paradores will not be found everywhere including most of the larger cities.

Unless she specifically wants to see a select mountain or a mountain range, consider los Picos de Europa on the Asturias Cantabria border. There's a Parador at Fuente Dé and Hotels & Hostals in Potes or nearby Santillana del mar. I think there's much more happening there than you would find in Andorra, for example. |
Bagneres de Luchon is a lovely town surrounded by mountains but also has cafes, a thermes and there are interesting places nearby.
We have a B&B 20 minutes away in St Beat if you are interested let us know and we will send you more information. If you want to know more about Luchon again get in touch we would be happy to help. Ron and Carole |
