Spain with two teenagers!
 

I am planning a trip next week with my daughter and her friend. I originally thought destination would be Madrid. If Madrid, should I see Majorca or should I just fly into Barcelona then to Majorca. I'm just trying to visit the city or resort that would be most fun for them. What would be the most economical transportation to Majorca? Where is a safe area to stay. I don't plan on renting a car. Thank you for all suggestions.

Well I don;t really think you want to see Majorca in winter - way too cold for a beach resort. Suggest you check the weather everyplace - Madrid is on a high plateau and has a real winter - often with snow.

Barcelona will be milder - but neither B nor Majorca is beach weather in winter. No place in europe is.

Tonight will be about 40 degrees in Madrid and 45 in Barcelona - with highs in the low 50s. But, it could get colder

How long is your trip in total? What country are you originating from as I assume you haven't purchased your airfare.....

Thanks for the info. I work for an airline and wanted to try a new place. My daughter wants to go back to Europe so we're searching for a fun place even though its cold all over. We're from Houston so temps even in the 50's seem cold to us. Lol. I looked at London. Seems like the typical cold, rainy forecast. Madrid forecasted sunshine, at least. But I may reconsider. Also as noted, Majorca is more of a summer resort, but if you do go, then check out Cap Rocat (https://www.caprocat.com), it's the best on the island, any season.

And if you want to be in Palma's old quarter, then take a look at Palacio Ca Sa Galesa (www.palaciocasagalesa.com).

Assuming you have one week, an option would be to fly into Madrid then take the high speed train to Malaga. The weather should be in the mid-60's. Malaga is supposed to be very beautiful with Christmas decorations at this time. From Malaga you could take the train to Sevilla and then return to Madrid. If you can get flights using your airline benefits you could potentially fly Sevilla to Madrid for a connecting flight home and not have to return to Madrid for your final night.

I'd also be tempted to do 4-5 nights in Sevilla and 2 nights in Granada. This would mean not seeing the beach (it will be too cold to swim anyways) but you'd get to visit the Alhambra. Granada will be chillier though - forecast to be mid-50's during the day and high 30's at night.

Or just fly to Madrid or Barcelona and stay there. I wouldn't bother with Mallorca this time of year and there will be lots happening on the mainland in these cities.

I agree that Andalucía would be a great option.

If you are thinking of flying to Madrid and getting on another plane, how about Lisbon? It's in the low 60s there and filled with fascination. It's also quite inexpensive and has delicious food. A website like Rent4Days could land you a great apartment, or check booking.com for hotels. I can't help but think if I were coming from Texas, Lisbon is the more exotic European destination.

Unless I have missed something, you dont say when you are travelling to Spain. If your daughters are late teens then the places I would think about are Benidorm (Costa Blanca) and Palma Nova (Majorca)- they are incredibly appealing for late teeeagers but not as safe in high summer. Easyjet is probably the cheapest option between Spain and Majorca.

The OP is traveling within the week - winter, not summer.
