Spain trip in December

We are thinking of going to Spain over the Christmas holidays and spending just 6 nights. It will be me, my husband and 2 daughters, ages 14 and 16. Where should we go that time of year? What shouldn't we miss? What is the weather like? Is there any place really warm then? What about hotels? We want to stay in really nice places? Thanks!

Are you going to Hawaii or Costa Rica AND Spain in December?

"Really nice places." How in the world can anyone divine what that means to you..how much money can you spend a night..? No place will be "really warm" in Spain in December. Other than that, I am not sure how anyone can tell you where to go and what to see unless you have done some reading and let us know more about your budget and tastes.

Sorry for being all over the place with this. The problem is we don't know where to go! We wanted to go to Costa Rica, but almost every place we wanted to stay, except for one is booked. We were thinking of Hawaii and still are, but our travel agent says it will be rainy, but I don't know if that's true. I would love to go to Spain, but don't know if that's a mistake or if it's actually a nice time to go-50's would be fine. The other possibility is London. Europe is so expensive now! I would spend 400-500/night max for the four of us.

Do you mean 400-500 US dollars per night for two rooms? $400 US is about 258 euro...I am not sure how "nice" the place will be if you are looking for two rooms, at 120 Euro each... It will certainly not be luxury at that price.

I do not mean to be rude, but perhaps you should do some reading about Spain so you can ask some less general questions. Temps in the 50sF might be in the range for southern Spain. Do you want a beach resort?

Sorry!!! I will get back to you. Maybe we need to up the budget. My husband travels a lot for work and wants to stay in nice hotels, where ever we go. I guess I need to look a bit to see what these places cost. Where would you go in the south of Spain or are we better off braving the cold and staying north? Thanks.

You have not told us if you want a beach or resort vacation. Or a city? Do you want to rent a car? Have you ever been to Spain? What are your interests? Have you traveled in Europe before?

We have been to Europe many times, but never Spain. Isn't it too cold to go to a beach resort? if not, that would be fun. If it is, maybe we could spend a few days in a big city and a couple in a smaller town. We are open to suggestions since we have never been to Spain before. Thanks.

Spain is NOT semi-tropical and December is NOT beach weather. If you want beach you need to go to the Carib or Hawaii.

If you want to do historical touring in warmish weather - 50's or perhaps even 60 - you should do the Southern part - rather than the mountains which will have skiing.

As for really nice places in Spain I would assume at least $400 per night per room - unless your definition of "really nice" is a lot different from mine.
