Hello Everyone,
We have an upcoming trip to southern Spain next month May 2019. What is the best way to travel from Granada to Seville?

Train, it is about four hours. The Spanish trains are excellent, the RENFE website maddening. I think the earliest you can get a ticket is 63 days in advance.

There isn't any train that route AFAIK. Renfe doesn't say there is a train yet, they say it is bus part of the way, then train. I think it's bus from Granada to Osuna or Antequera, then train to Seville. But you can do that,

It's up to you, it's that or the bus, obviously. The bus can actually be shorter and no transfers. I'd take the bus myself.
the bus can be only 2:45-3 hrs.

Sevilla to Granada
 

You can book a ticket on the Renfe.com website or at Petrabax.com, but the rail line connecting Sevilla and Granada remains at an impass for some reason. If you buy a ticket, you will take the train to Antequera, then transfer to a bus for the final leg of the journey.

Overall, it's easier just to take the bus from Sevilla to Granada unless you want ot do a private transfer, which will run you about 300 € + VAT of up to 4 people, or 350€ + VAT for a van for up to 7 people. The bus takes around 2-1/2 hours, but a private transfer is much more comfortable and you're able to stop along the way if you want.

That train segment has been .nearly complete' for a few years now it seems. Everyone says that buses are comfy.

It's politics. So who knows when the new rail line will be finished.

Yes, I keep searching at Petrabox.com for a train ticket from Granada to Seville but nothing comes up. So I guess its BUS only and I can't buy it in advance right?

I used Petrabax.com successfully 3 years ago to buy Spanish train tickets--I think they charged a small fee, but the best place to buy train tickets at this point in time is Loco2.com. Easy to do in English, with an American credit card, and the same price as Renfe.

Look at the Alsa bus website. You can buy tickets online in advance. Our neighbors took the Alsa bus from Granada to Seville earlier this year and said it was very comfortable.

This is probably not what OP had in mind, but for me, the "best" way to travel between Granada and Sevilla would be a one-way car rental to explore the rural sights in between the two big cities.
Or veer off the main route to make a stop in Ronda.
Or stay on the motorway between Granada and Antequera and then follow the regular highways along the Northern edge of the Sierra de Grazalema.

Buses in Spain are excellent, efficient and often have better schedules than trains.

I've bought bus tickets in Spain in advance several times, no reason you can't. Spain does have very good buses, of course. Many countries do.

You can buy tickets for Granada to Sevilla Santa Justa on Petrabax as they get the schedules from RENFE. You can buy them on RENFE, also, which is what I do. They just don't have the schedule loaded past April 23rd for some reason, that's all. But if you tried for 4/23, you could buy them. They don't tell you it isn't a train all the way, though.

Strange. Thirty years ago I was able to take a train from Granada to Seville. What happened?
