SPAIN-Seville quick side trips or adventures.
 

Hi everyone. I am traveling to Seville for the 4th time. I will be there only 10 days, mainly to visit friends. Thus, i have seen all of the major attractions etc. and wondered if anyone had any ideas of something a little less ordinary that might draw my attention. I have been to Madrid and Granada and Cadiz, Jerez, Marbella etc. And i am traveling alone so I am not really comfortable going very far... Just some interesting works of art maybe or a new bar or two that might be worthwhile. I look forward to chatting with you! Thanks,

since you have been to sevilla before you must know about "la Carbonera"?
a cool multi-room talent show type place where artists entertain the guests with their singing, guitar.. dancing.. whatever.. piano playing.

you can wander from "room" to room til you find an atmosphere you like.

there was no cover charge when we were there.. just pay for your drinks.

very nice.. busy.. and full of people until the wee hours.

Maybe you haven't been yet to the new flamenco museum, Museo del Baile Flamenco, on Calle Manuel Rojas Marcos that was opened recently by flamenco artist extraordinaire, Cristina Hoyos (of Carlos Saura's movies "Carmen" and "Bodas de sangre"), director of the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía. It was a private inititative but subsidized by the local and regional governments. The museum is scheduled to have special shows and it has a shop for CDs and flamenco wear.

Thanks, Yes! i frequented the Carboneria, good times, but i will check out that new museum--which has not made it on my list. Appreciate it.

This is a good start of things you've already missed.

Nearby, how about Sanlucar de Barrameda (sp?). You can visit the restaurants/bars along the river. A whole mile of tapa bars providing some of the best shellfish in Spain.

Across the river is the part Coto Doñada (sp?)and have a land rover visit. It's European's largest wild park.

Medinia Sedonia sits on the top of a large hill. The nearby roads are filled with ventas which special fowl for meals. Top place for Sunday afternoon.

La Marina in Puerto Real is the house of the best fish place I've ever found. Even the king and his family ate there.

If I wanted some adventure, I would go to some random pueblo and wander around. I have never had a bad experience in an Andalusian pueblo, and usually you can catch a morning bus out and an evening one in. When will you be there? Perhaps there are fiestas going on and you can go. Those are always so much fun. Just count on having the next day to recover from your hangover.

If you haven't been to Cordoba, IMO that would be well worth a day trip for La Mezquita and also I'd suggest dinner at El Caballo Rojo.
