On the RENFE website for tickets(see attached), there is a box that says "+RENFE Joven 50" which translates RENFE young 50; which makes no sense; Is this a box for seniors over 50?

Thanks.

Spain Renfe

No. The 50 refers to the price, not someone's age.

Tarjeta +Renfe Joven 50 Card

This should be moved to the Europe forum.

If you click on +Renfe Joven 50, you are provided an explanation.
The 50 refers to pricing, not to age.

It's a youth card, that's why it is called that and it does make sense, it gives you 50 pct discounts on some things, also, that's why the catchy marketing term.

I'd use the Renfe website as they are running the train. Rick Steves is not.

on Renfe google only Madrid ...and the destination.
Segovia is on train line to Salamanca.
A few trains from M to Salamanca take 1:40 min., other much longer.
Segovia is about 30 min from Madrid. Be careful which train you take from Segovia to Salamanca

danon Jan 22nd, 2019 03:30 PM

Sorry..not google, just input...Madrid ..not the name of the station

The RENFE site is designed to drive people mad. You also cannot book AVE until something like 90 days in advance and 60 days for other trains. But that is not a firm number.

BTW, the word in Spanish for someone who is retired is jubilado. (who-BE-lod-oh)

rmgood Jan 27th, 2019 07:39 AM

Perfecto! Entonces soy jubilado!

danon Jan 27th, 2019 12:18 PM

Retired or not , if you are 60 you can purchase “ tarjeta dorada”
that gives you discounts on some lines and times.
A few years ago it was 5 euros with ID.
