Spain over New Years
 

Any tips on where to stay in Spain over New Years? We are arriving in Madrid on Dec 27th and then going south for 6 days: Toledo, Cordoba, Seville, Granada. Any towns better than others for New Years and any suggestions for hotels would be great for these towns. It's a family of 4 - 2 teenage daughters.

For hotels you can do a search here in the box that will give you way more options than from just one post. Take a look at them and then come back for more detailed opinions once you have decided your budget. You will need two rooms or get an apartment. There are few family suites.

As for NY Eve.. I would rather be in Sevilla than Cordoba or Granada, mainly for its larger size and hopefully more options of fiesta or street activity and better fireworks.

Do not forget to buy grapes and eat 12 at midnight. It is a big Spanish tradition. Most people have fun with it.

Sevilla would of course be fabulous, but so would also definitely Córdoba.

The thousands of people gathering for the midnight eating of the grapes at Plaza de las Tendillas in central Córdoba is traditionally directly televised on national tv. The clock on Plaza de las Tendillas has got no bells. Since 1961 the hours has been chimed in by recorded flamenco chords from the guitarist Juanito Serrano, and this adds to the Córdoba spectacle on New Years eve.

Thank you all! Yes, I've been looking online for hotels for both Cordoba and Sevilla - looking to keep it under 100 Euro/room.

I'm staying in Hotel Córdoba Centro in a few weeks time, just by the Plaza de las Tendillas in the center of town, 81€/room at New Years eve:

Once we had a wonderful New Year;s Dinner and celebration in Cordoba. How did we find this place tucked in those little, narrow streets...? luck played a part, we stopped two women on the street, obviously two locals and they saved us from the touristic place the hotel had recommended. It is a question of luck and asking the right person, I guess.
