Spain or Italy in March/April?
 

I was planning on getting an award ticket and going to Seville and Andalusia in March or April. Interested in the region but also hoping for warm weather.

The other option would be to fly into Rome spend a day or two and then make way to the north. The idea would be to fly out of MXP.

So the possible areas to visit would be Cinque Terre, Lake Como, maybe parts of Switzerland.

Would be skipping Tuscany and Umbria on this trip.

How are these areas in late March/early April?

Have done Andalusia in late April and it was quite warm - low 80's during the day and people were definitely using hotel pools. Don't know about weatrher in early April though.

Rome won;t be as warm - should be fine for touring though. Not sure about Cinque Terre - may be quite chilly in the Lakes.

march/april are always unpredictable as most of this year has been in spain. we have had snow in early november.. and the heaviest snowfalls for the past 30 years...

hard to know but it certainly should be more pleasant anywhere in southern spain than northern italy next to the alps!

Hello scrb, if you go to Cinque Terre, Lake Como etc. in March you will probably have rain and also possibly in April although with all the climate changes around the world one can't count on past weather conditions regarding the future. If you want to spend a lot of time outside in Italy you may be dissapointed possibly with the early spring weather.

What about Rome and further south, such as Amalfi then?

I could fly in and out of Rome. I've been there one but never left the city.

Chances of warmer weather down south but what about the rain?

Hmm, according to these pages, Andalusia seems to be much wetter in March/April than Rome?

Looks like Milan is a bit wetter than Rome but not as much as Seville or Malaga?

as always, hard to know.
We were in Rome one year the second week of March - the weather was lovely.

This year we arrived in Rome the last week in April and everyone was complaining about how miserable most of April was.
I would go to the south of Spain.

Went to Southern Spain last week in April of this year and the weather was nice. Not cold,but not too hot either. No rain either.

Well booked it for Rome, last weekend of March through about the second week of April, or about 12-13 full days.

Hope it stays dry.
