Spain or Italy? Help!

We are planning to visit either Spain or Italy in December for two weeks, yet cannot decide which county. Can anyone advise us or tell us your opinion?

I know it's personal preference. But if you have two weeks to visit either of the two counties, which would you choose and why?

I have been to Italy, so I know how beautiful and exciting it is to visit there, and don't mind (love to) going back. But never been to Spain and very curious. My husband's never been to Europe.

I'd appreciate any input. Thank you.

I know,as you say its a personal preference, but we
have been to both and thought Spain was less expensive and easier to function then Italy. We like southern Spain in the winter time especially Nerja east of Malaga.

Spain is hard to navigate as a country---the best
areas are in opposite corners. Think about a region
of Spain-for instance, Andalusia. which is the most
classical part with Seville, Granada, Nerja, Ronda,
and the Costa del Sol.That makes a good trip, and
this is Dec. so you want to be south.
However, The Amalfi Coast, and Sicily would also
be good then. I love Italy, but Dec. is not the
best time to enjoy---try sunny Espana this time.

Thanks! I always wanted to go to Andalusia. Another person also said he liked Nerja (Thanks, Will!). When the time cames, we are ready to make specific plans, let me contact you again. Thanks again!
We have visited Spain(just returned) and Italy. We really loved both. Choosing one over the other would be difficult with the nod going to Italy because of the lakes district. However, since you have been to Italy you really should visit Spain!! Spain is wonderful and has many of the endearing qualities of Italy, beautiful cathedrals, palaces, deeply routed in Midieval and Renissance history, etc. Visiting Spain would expand your horizons even more than a trip to Italy. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. My husband and I are planning two weeks in the Costa del Sol area in the later part of September. We are very excited about our trip, the first time to Spain. We have only been to northern Italy, but we plan our next trip to the southern part of Italy. Looking forward to a great Spanish vacation.
