Annaa.... 2-1/2 yr old thread

We have traveled to both very recently with our children (ages 16, 18, 23). Although I really did love Spain, I have never fallen so hard for a country like I did for Croatia. In Barcelona, there is a bit of a backlash on tourism, but in Croatia we were so welcomed! I loved it!!! We also went to Sarajevo, and that was amazing!!!!! The food was better in Spain, though, I have to be honest. But the raw beauty of Croatia along with the very friendly people just makes it my favorite place. So much so, that we are going back next summer (and spending some time in Slovenia, too). If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We flew into Zagreb, then went to Split, then had a 3 day, 2 night sailboat trip to a few islands (Vis was one), then we went to Dubrovnik. Then, we went to Bosnia.

There is always a risk following in the footsteps of others, and things are rarely fabulous or terrible.
Spain. We were in the Croatian part of Yugoslavia in the early eighties. Some cute towns, mostly in Istria. I suspect that, with the exception of prices, not much has changed. |
