Have you done any research? Spain is a big country with a lot to see and do.

a lot of things to see in Spain..
it is a big country with different regions and cultures.

Most first time visitors usually go to Madrid, Seville, Granada ... (10 days would be better) .
You may wish to look at a few guide books first.

As Dannon & Robert have said, Spain is diverse.
There are many different Spains.

I would indeed look over a few guidebooks, narrow down area you seem to like, then surf these forums for ssome great trip reports. Also some guidebooks give examples of itineraries for 7-10 days. That helps give a realistic picture of what you can expect in that relatively short time. But you can plan a great vacation.

September is a very good time to travel in Spain.
Early or late Sept? Tell us more about your interests too please.

Perhaps to understand why we cannot answer your question full visit the Spanish tourist page at
www.Spain.info
You have to pick an area an stick with that do not dart around and think you can see everything.

hi ff,

I echo the advice not to try to cram in too much. Nearly all of Spain will be lovely that time of year. we just spent a few days in barcelona, and the climate was just right - not too hot for sigtseeing but warm enough in t heevening to make it pleasant, and the sea was warm enough to swim too.

you could do a lovely trip flying into Barcelona, spending a few days there, then picking up a car and touring. if there are only two of you, you would most probably not need to book accommodation outside Barcelona, unless you wanted to stay in paradors [nationally run high-class inns, often in the countryside in historic buildings].

once you've begun to cut down on your options, have a look at the very useful guides produced by fodorite maribel:

happy planning

regards, ann

Hello ff:

We just returned yesterday from our first trip to Spain for about 10 days total. Flew from Philadelphia into Madrid and stayed for about 4 days: 2.5 days in Madrid (museums, royal palace, markets, plazas, cathedrals, etc.) and 1 day trip to Toledo. Then, took high speed train from Madrid to Barcelona for 6 days; 4.5 days in Barcelona (museums, churches, markets, ramblas, beach, plazas, neighborhoods, shopping, everything Gaudi, etc. ) and 1 day trip to Figueres (Dali Museum). Worked well for us: fun, enjoyable and not too crammed.
All the best with your planning.
