It is not hard to find things to do in and around Barcelona. It just depends on your interests. I would suggest La Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, and other examples of Gaudi architecture as well as great art galleries and museums. There is an interesting archeological exhibit under the cathedral. Of course, just wandering around the Gotic and Ramblas area and visiting the shops and sampling some of the food is an entertainment in itself. You could go out of town a bit to Montserrat or one of the beaches nearby. Just look at some of the website already suggested or visit the library and check out a guidebook. It is hard to recommend without knowing what you are interested in doing.

You shouldn't have trouble filling your 8 days in Barcelona. It's a wonderful city. We visited the Block of Discord houses (went through Casa Batllo), on to Casa Mila, and then to Sagrada Familia (as mentioned there is an interesting museum in the basement). The next day we wandered the Ramblas. At the end is the Maritime Museum. Very nice. Then we went to Parc Guell. The next day we did a bus trip to Girona (Roman baths and Jewish museum) and Figueres (Dali's hometown and museum), very interesting. The next day was Sunday and we went to the Cathedral and watched the people doing the Sardona Dances outside (they only do this on Sunday and I think around noon. Check out times). We went on to the History museum showing the history of the city. Then we went to the Picasso Museum - free on Sunday. It was a long line, but we were towards the end of the day and the line moved quickly. On Monday we took another bus trip, this time to Montserrat. On Tuesday we went to the Joan Miro Museum. As others have suggested, you need to get a guide book and choose what interests you. The Guadi things are very interesting. Actually we found everything in this city to be fascinating. We didn't spend time on the beaches, but they are there.

Have been to Barcalona before was looking at something else, should be go south to Granad and the Alhambra or go north to Saint Sebastian ? Think 8 days limits choices, want to relax and enjoy .
We are a miter couple should we drive or train it?
