Spain in August

A friend and I were thinking of Spain this August. I know it's supposed to be packed, but since I'm taking the bar in July and have to start work after Labor Day it's my only free time. We're not really beach people--is the rest of the country doable this time of year.

It's doable but please realize it'll be hot, hot, hot!!!!!!!

It's was in the high 90's at 10 pm!!!

We were there about 7 years ago and it wasn't too crazy in August.

Enjoy!

it will definitely be hot, especcially in the towns... a lot of spaniards try to escape the heat and move to summer/holiday homes in the mountains !

Any other suggestions for European travel that time of year? We're very open as the only place in Europe either of us has been is Britain.

Think north, say N. France, Holland, Scandinavia and Germany. Only problem is that much of Europe is on holiday, so a lot of things go on hiatus in August.

Actually August is a prety good time to go to Scandinavia. The weather is comparatively cool and because so many business people are on vacation there are some great bargains to be had. (I got the Grand Hotel in Stockholm for about 1/3 of the rack rate a couple of summers ago.)
