Spain-Gibraltar border crossing

Has anyone crossed the border from La Linea to Gibraltar recently? Is it still as troublesome as a lot of people say? We will be in Costa del Sol in November and plan on driving to Gibraltar for a day in a rental car. If we don't bring the car into Gibraltar, I am worried that we will be doing too much walking around. Which is the lesser of two evils, a lot of walking & waiting for buses or queuing for border crossing?

We had no problem at all crossind the so called border. No one even glanced at us at the check point. The same while leaving. Do take a car. We really loved Gibraltar and thought it was a uniqie experience.

We crossed last February in a car. THe line is daunting but it took us less than an hour to make it in and to the top of the rock. Take your car...

I was there last year in October. Parked car at La Linea and crossed over into Gibraltar, no problems of any kind. the british guard was a bit surprised when i asked if i could get a stamp for my passport...even funnier was that he responded in beautiful andalucian spanish,,,

I was in La Linea in March, we saw a long queue and decided to park the car in La Linea and walk through the border. We caught a bus and in no time at all we were in town. As you are aware, Spain claims Gibraltar as part their territory, Gibraltar says that they are under the protectorate of Great Britain (Treaty of Urtecht - 1775(?)) until such time as they decide otherwise - either self-government or under Spanish sovereignty (sp?) .If there are long queues in and out of Gibraltar it could be because the argument between Spain, Gibraltar and the UK has flared up again (one does not know when this is going to happen) or even something even minor.

We drove into Gibraltar in 1990. Easy to get into, hours to get out of. Long lines, security checks, Spanish customs, etc. I hope it's gotten better.
