Spain Andalusia In July?
 

Message: My husband and I are seriously considering renting a villa in Grazalema with our 2 teens and another couple with 2 children the first week in July. From all I have read, there is plenty see on day trips from our hub. My concern is the heat. I keep reading it's hot, "unbearable" in July. Our thoughts are to tour in the morning, relax by the pool in the afternoon, & enjoy the evenings. Any feedback the heat/humidity in this region would be appreciated.

In July you can count on temps well into the 90's every day and it frequently goes over 100. When I was in Seville I remember seeing cartoons about a heat wave in which it was over 100 for many days in a row with a top temp of 109.

We were there in late April and it was in the 80s. I would never travel there in the summer - but then I really don't l hate ot weather.

Do not even consider renting a villa without air conditioning. and be sure that all rooms are air conditioned - friends of ours rented a villa in Italy that was "air conditioned" and it turned out to be only in 2 of the bedrooms - everyone had to share rooms in order to get any sleep.

We were in Seville in July 2002. It was very hot. We spent a lot of time in the afternoon by the pool at the hotel. But, it got hot early and stayed hot until at least 11pm. We much prefer Spring and Fall for Analusia.

Grazalema like every place in Andalusia will be hot in July , but you cannot compare with Seville. Grazalema is up in the mountains, 2400 feet above sea level and near Gibraltar, cool winds.
Sevilla by the river in flat land and 300 feet above sea level is much more humid and therefore "hot". While in Seville in July A/C is a must I don't think you need it at night in Grazalema.
Your idea of moving in the morning and relax afternoons is the way to go.

Thank you for your responses. We have decided that we should try to a trip to this area in the spring rather than summer. I truly appreciate the feedback.
