Spain & Portugal iternary help
Hi,
I will be travelling from June 11 to June 26 from NYC to Spain. Before booking my tickets I would like to have a rough iternary planned. I want to see Lisbon. I also do not want to spend time in Madrid besides really doing a trip in Toledo. The order is a bit off...cause I dont know my arrival and departure airport.
I'm a 27 yr. old women and I'll be travelling with a friend.
Do you think this is doable?
3 Nights Madrid (Includes day trip to Segovia and/or toledo)
3 Nights Seville (stop at cordoba on the way from madrid to seville)
2 Nights Granada
4 Nights Barcelona
3 lisbon

You say that you are staying between June 11th and 26th. That makes 5 days, but your itinerary is 15 nights ie 16 days.
What is it?
What form(s) of travelling are you planning to use?
It seems that advice is genuinely to go from Madrid to BCN and then head south.

I think you're trying to do too much in 15 nights. This is at least worthwhile of a 3 week trip. You'll barely have time (with travel in between) to visit these base cities let alone daytrips and getting to know the area.

It might be hard to fit Lisbon into this mix. We did a similar trip in 2007 starting with 3 days in Barcelona (not including arrival day) then a morning flight to Seville on Vueling which is very cheap and easy arriving around noon in Seville for three days. But you could easily fly to Madrid directly for three days then go to Cordobo on your way to Seville. We rented a car from Seville to the coast then on to Granada for a day trip. Not sure you need two nights there. Instead of the coast you could fly then to Lisbon for your last few days but it may be a hectic and it depends where you are flying out from. Maybe save Portugal for another time - that's what we did and we really enjoyed seeing more than just Lisbon.

This might be doable if you fly into Barcelona and out of Lisbon. I'd take the night train from Madrid to Lisbon in that case - saving daylight time for sightseeing. If you're not interested in Madrid you could cut out your time there, spending two nights in Toledo and taking the train out of Madrid the next evening.

How about this iternary? I don't really want to spend too much time in Madrid itself. Do these places compliment each other or should I replace with some other place. We won't be driving.
June 11 -14 3 nights Lisbon
15-17 3 nights Madrid (Includes day trip to Segovia and/or toledo)
18 - 21 4 nights Seville (stop at cordoba on the way from madrid to seville)
22 1 night Granada
23- 27 5 Nights Barcelona

Why have 3 nights planned in Madrid if you don't want to see Madrid? Do you have free lodging there, business to conduct or some other reason to be there? If not, all the other places you mention have hotels. Cordoba is worth spending more time than a stop on the way to or from somewhere else.
I'd also save Lisbon for another trip. It's a long way to go and not have any time to see more of beautiful Portugal.

Hi,
So this is my draft iternary. Do any of these places have a beach, even if it's for day trip?
Does the rest of the iternary look okay? I don't mind cutting 1 day from Madrid and using it elsewhere, any suggestions?
Also, can I do a stop over from Cardoba to Seville via train? Is there a place to keep the luggage?

"You will need more than an overnight in Granada if you intend to see the Alhambra." Wrong.
I arrived in Granada by train from Gibraltar, staying for one night at the Hotel America. I ate dinner at the parador, and spent the rest of the evening at the Alhambra. I used the next morning to visit sights in town, spent the afternoon at the Alhambra, and then took the night train to Barcelona.
