Spain 2 weeks tour itinerary

Hi. I am Rajesh Motwani from India. Planning to visit Spain from May 5 to May 20 this year. We are just 3 guys together . Need your help for planning itinerary.

Following is our rough plan though:

May 5-7 Madrid
May 8-9 Seville
May 10-12 Granada
May 13-15 Ibiza (Flight from Malaga)
May 16-19 Barcelona
May 20 Early Morning Fly Back from Barcelona to India

We want to enjoy Spanish Adventure activities. food, beaches, villages, night life and culture.

Right now only all flights are booked including Ibiza. Need to plan internal travel and day wise itinerary if above plan satisfactory .

Your guidance will be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Rajesh Motwani

You do not want to miss the 'Ronda Romantica', the yearly festival in Ronda, one of the most beautiful white washed towns in Spain. It is held in May, I think the dates this year are 14 and 15 May. It was one of the greatest highlights of our month in Spain. The whole town is dressed up, every man, woman, child, horse, etc. Lots of historical reenactments. Easy to get there by train from Seville and then go on to Granada....you will not regret it!!

Not sure why you are spending more time in Granada, which has less to do than Seville - nor why you are ignoring Cordoba, which is a fascinating city and the most advanced in europe in it's heyday.

I would take a day from Barcelona so you can have at least one day in Cordoba. And I would bag Ibiza - but I guess you are looking for partying, although I think May is kind of early in the year for that.

Yes, skip Ibiza in May and enjoy Malaga instead.

Thanks for your replies.

Actually had planned for Cordoba day trip on the way from Madrid to Seville.

Madrid to Cordoba by train. Take rental car in Cordoba , visit seville granada and malaga and drop off car in malaga.

Even if I think of cancelling Ibiza altogether although flights booked what changes you suggest in the above itinerary so that Ronda festival also included.

Rajesh Motwani

"May 11 Granada overnight in Malaga"

Are you sure this timing will give you the time to do what you most want to do in Granada? For example, to visit to the Alhambra (something which must be booked in advance) can easily require at least 2 nights in Granada....

Hi.

Can Change to following and allow max one night in Granada as per earlier post.

Granada is just 1.5 hours from Malaga. Planning to rent a car.

May 5-7 Madrid
May 8-10 Seville including Cardoba
May 11-13 Ronda/Marbella/Costa De Sol/Granada
May 14-15 Ibiza (Flight from Malaga)
May 16-19 Barcelona (Flight from Ibiza)
May 20 Early Morning Fly Back from Barcelona to India

Can you help with activities.

Thanks and regards,

Rajesh Motwani

Hi Rajesh, your itenerary is almost exactly what I am planning but we are going in September. How was your trip? Any suggestions or things you would do differently? Are you glad you went to Ibiza? Thanks!

kimhe Mar 11th, 2017 06:39 AM

codytrahan,

For your trip this September, I would definitely suggest more time in 3000 year old Málaga city by the Med, the regions "city of culture with its so-called 'mile of art' being compared to Madrid, and its dynamism and fine dining to Barcelona." https://www.lonelyplanet.com/spain/andalucia/malaga

Málaga is fabulous tapas bars, restaurants, food markets and excellent culture scene and nightlife. Genuine, laid-back Andalucian atmosphere, and major historical sights right in the city center. Here's the Roman theater below the Moorish Alcazaba palace/fortress, close to both the huge 16th Century cathedral and Picasso's birth-house: http://www.malagaturismo.com/en/tour...tro-romano/413

A fine video intro to Málaga: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Na4yYZH2Hg

One of the finest hotels in Spain recently reopened almost right on the Malagueta city beach: http://www.granhotelmiramarmalaga.com/en/

Ibiza is great fun if you like wonderful beaches and heavy partying and nightlife. Haven't been back since I was 17 ;-)
