Spain 18 days

Hi all

I'm heading off to spain on July the 6th from melb Aus and ill be spending my 18 days across 3 main cities which are Barcelona's, San Sebastian and Madrid with a 3 day STOP over in pamplona for the San Fermin festival.

Im just curious on how much I need to budget per day for the trip. I have already purchased all the day trips.

I would like some informed opinions from hardened travelers as to how much I would need for food, drinks and spontaneous fun. Im 40 and I'm up for anything lol. My initial estimate is around 150 - 170 euro per day...am I on the right track or am I underestimating European requirements?

Appreciate it if i can get some advice thx

going by train? Or car - I would train for those cities- to save money on trains book well in advance for limited number of discounted tickets - www.renfe.com - Spanish Railways site or www.thetrainline.eu -similar fares but easier to get to work many say- for info on trains - www.seat61;com (adroit advice on discounted tickets); www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

Are you gonna run with the Bulls? check your travel insurance if so!

Sounds like a great trip!

It is very hard to tell anyone how much they need a day...
Depending on your choice of accommodation, choice of restaurants and " fun".

For me, you are on a low side .
the wine is cheap , though!

I'll be travelling by train and accomadation has already been paid for.

With accommodation paid , you should do just fine...
depending on where you eat, you might spend much less.

If you make it a routine to have a solid three course lunch with the locals, you'll have plenty to play with for food, drinks and fun the rest of the day/nig.

Most restaurants, at least outside the most beaten tourist tracks, will serve a bargain three course Menú del día (Today's menu) with drinks included for some 9-14€.

You have tons of places to choose between in all these cities, but I can recommend

Emblematic Taberna de Antonio Sánchez in Madrid, Menú del día 10,50€, brilliant place with much history in the walls: http://www.tabernaantoniosanchez.com/
https://www.thefork.com/restaurant/l...-sanchez/23140

No fuss Navia in Barcelona, I come back here all the time, Menú del día 11€. https://www.tripadvisor.es/Restauran...Catalonia.html

La Zurri in San Sebastián is very popular with locals, Menú del día 11€: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...e_Country.html

Gourmet menu at La Muralla for 29€, both lunch and at night om weeksdays, highly recommended: http://www.restaurantelamuralla.com/...s-weekdays.php

Some of many, many other Madrid options: http://www.nakedmadrid.com/2015/10/2...dia-in-madrid/

One week (7 nights) in Spain in 2015 and 2016, couple.

Hotels, meals, car rental in both cases was about Canadian$ 1800.00.

Since the Euro vs US dollar has dropped so much your non-transportation and hotel expenses may well be much lower - as danon, a Spanish expert here says.
