Spagnoli Red Rome Apartment

Hi

We will be in Rome in mid September this year on our first visit. Currently looking for an apartment for 2 in a central position with internet and washing machine and have come across Spagnoli Red booked through Room in Italy. It is located on/near via delgi spanoli. I have read the reviews here and elsewhere but I have further questions:
Is this close to public transport? What options do we have to see Rome as well as the Vatican?
Is this centrally located to all the tourist Rome and Vatican attractions?
Anyone stayed in this apartment recently? Pro's and Con's
Any alternative apartments you can recommend.
Look forward to anyone who has stayed at this apartment

Sleep in Italy, right? This one?

We stayed slightly SW of there on the other side of Piazza Navona. That is fairly centrally located and you could walk to most attractions if desired. You can also grab the 87 bus to the Colosseum which might be your farthest trek. Vatican is definitely walkable from there.

Here are some tips for public transportation from my trip report.

Map: http://www.atac.roma.it/files/doc.asp?r=383 (print A3 or 11x17 if you can)

Route planner: http://www.atac.roma.it/?lingua=ENG (can be a little cumbersome but still good). You can also type in your bus number in the “find your bus” section and it will show you the stops.

Good explanation: http://www.roninrome.com/%20transportation/bus and http://www.rometoolkit.com/transport/rome_bus.htm

Anyone stayed at this apartment?

Stayed in that area at the Piazza del Fico in June. Very centrally located. Lots of restaurants and bars. Less than 5 minutes to Piazza Navonna and Pantheon. 20 minutes to the Vatican maybe 25 to the Coloseum. Septemeber is cooler and you should have comfortabale walks. Sleep in Italy is a good group to work with.

I am staying in Spagnoli Red starting next week for two weeks! I will happily give a more current review when we get back. I can tell you that I have visited Rome many times and that I chose this apartment for its location and amenities. I am not much for public transportation in Rome since we pretty much walk everywhere....Sleep in Italy has been great for us many times over the past several years....we've rented through them in Rome, Florence and Venice, but mostly Rome.... The fact that I go directly back to them every time says it all. I'm not sure how this forum works, but if there's a way to contact me directly after February 25, I'd be happy to answer your questions as best I can. I expect to post a review on trip advisor when I get back.

Hi susanboston

Hope I have not missed you as would really appreciate your review of the apartment. I will look here after Feb 25 - not sure if we are allowed to post our email address. Someone may tell us how we can contact via this site. This is our first time in Rome and Florence etc.

Do you have any recommendations for Florence as only just started looking for an apartment there and given that you have already had very good experiences from Sleep In Italy. Or at very least some guidelines on what area to locate ourselves to tourist for the first time!

Could you all let me know how the Spagnoli Red is to stay in? Was it noisy? Clean no bugs etc.? Did the wireless work? Is it central and safe?
Thanks ,
