Southhampton airport, transfer to LHR?

For a trip early next year, we are considering taking advantage of FlyBE's great prices from Southampton to our secondary destination for the second half of the trip. We would be returning to London the night before our flight back to the US, which departs from LHR, so we would not be running to make a connection.

If anyone here has used the Southhampton airport for London, I'd be interested in hearing opinions, pros/cons, etc. Thanks!

Haven't used FlyBE's flights yet, (friends have and were satisfied with them), but as I live not too far away I can offer an opinion about the airport in general. It is a fairly small regional airport so no long queues etc. The train station, (Southampton Parkway), is literally a step away from the terminal building, so is very convienient.

and perhaps it should be pointed out that the trip will take about 1 to 1.5 hours by train and you will get into Waterloo (London). You would then need travel from Waterloo (train, taxi, friend?) to LHW unless LHR is a new airport.

Uh - LHR is Heathrow . . . . .

Thanks, everyone.

We've used FlyBE before, when they were Jersey-European, and were very satisfied with the service. That time we flew from Gatwick right after connecting from the US, but this time we will be leaving after a few days in London, so I thought I'd consider the Southampton flights, too, along with the other London-area commuter airports.
