Southern Spain: Which City to Eliminate....
First off ...I wanted to thank everyone that has given me advice over the previous weeks.
We are about to embark on our trip to Spain. I am making last minute revisions and I am thinking about eliminating one of the cities on our itinerary. We have: --Fly into Malaga --Ronda --Cadiz --Seville --Granada --Fly out of Malaga. I am planning on making a general NW track from Malaga. I had hoped to swing back east to catch Granada. What do you think? If I had to eliminate a city, which should go? Thanks! |
I forgot to mention ....we are only there for 6 days. That is why I am eliminating a city ;-(

With only 6 days to spare, I would divide my time between Malaga and Sevilla, or Sevilla and Granada, with an afternoon in Ronda.
You don't mention where you're arriving from, but the first day should always be set aside to adjust to the change (location, weather and dining times). |
Suggestion of Robert is good. Split your time between Seville and either Granada or Malaga. Cut out Cadiz. You could do Malaga as a day trip out of Granada, and Ronda can be done as a day trip out of either Seville or Malaga.
Try to spend an afternoon in Nerja (from either Granada or Malaga). Seville is great. Do try to spend max time there. |
With six days at you disposal, you have plenty time to do the cities listed; not sure why you feel you have to eliminate one? Granted, you do not have the time to dilly-dally in neither, but do not miss any. All listed have good centers so you do not have to waste time wandering from one sight to the next. If I were you I would keep the original plan. IF you have to eliminate, decide out there; let the circumstances decide for you.

5 cities in 6 days seems a lot but aside from flying in and out of it, I would eliminate Malaga. I know more flights come into Malaga than either Seville or Granada but the only place quite close to Malaga on your list is Granada.
Of your list, Seville and Granada to me are worthy of more time than the other places, although all are lovely. |
Road-- I did not even consider Malaga as a sigthseeing destination, as you clearly listed it as just the city you are flying into. If you are, then Malaga is the no-brainer.
If I go back to my first assumption, then let me make it easier for you: DAY 1 Fly into Malaga, head out to Granada (tons have done, so can you; settle) DAY 2 Granada DAY 3 AM: early start Ronda PM: head to Seville DAY 4 Seville DAY 5 AM : Seville PM: Cadiz DAY 6 start heading back at leisure for your departure from Malaga. I have taken the 6-8 days tours of Andalucia many times; sometimes dragging relatives, other times as a guide for friends. If you know how to plan you time (need to be out of bed before 8:30am :-D), this is definitely a doable list. |
