Southern Spain Help

Hi, I am planning a trip to Southern Spain- Andalucia for two weeks in April. Would appreciate advice on how to best divide my time. How many days to spend in Seville? Granada? which day trips would you recommend?

feedback is much appreciated!!!

You have SO many options, but to get you started, I recommend http://www.andalucia.com.
I also found the Rough Guide to Andalucia excellent.
As for time in those cities, Sevilla definitely deserves at the very least 3 days.
(When I visited, I only had about a week, which I spent in Cordoba, Sevilla, and Ronda--the latter place I loved the most. If I were to return and had two weeks, I would definitely put Cadiz on my list, and divide my urban/rural and mountain/beach time and see many of the white villages).
You should check to see when the big festival is happening in Sevilla (another poster will fill you in), as you will probably want to avoid the city then.
good luck

Also, indicate some of your interests and you'll get lots of great info--many Spain visitors on this forum! For example, any hobbies or passions you have, whether you like cities or small towns, and if you will rent a car or use public transportation are all helpful.

Thank you Yorkshire!!-- I didn't know that Holy Week should be avoided. would you please advise how I can find this post?

to expand the goal of my trip-- i have been to Spain before ( Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo and Segovia and loved it!). I love the history, architecture, museums. cant wait to explore more. Love taking side trips and exploring smaller towns and villages. I will not be renting a car and will be taking piblic transportion.

RE holy week: you may not want to avoid it (I would, haha), but I also know you need to book accommodation way in advance if your visit will coincide (and that probably goes for anywhere that has a large HW). I meant that other posters will probably inform you, but if you search "Holy Week" you will probably will find lots on the subject.
I traveled with bus and train myself, so I can tell you that will determine a lot of what you do. The good thing is you have two weeks, so it is less of a concern, and the big attractions are all quite well connected by public transport (day trips are sometimes less convenient). Ronda is an excellent base for visiting nearby villages, and you may want to consider renting a car for exploring--just a day or so--if that is an option for you.
Cordoba is an easy day trip from Sevilla, but why not stay a night or two, as it is a nice place (and of course the mosque is amazing). I had to skip Granada, but I believe there is another southern spain thread going about small towns near Granada that you may want to take a look at (lots of talk about olive oil in it).
Based on your interests and past Spanish visits, you will find much to love in Andalucia.

PDX's potential itinerary So. Spain
