While I mentioned the Algarve as an alternate vacation because it is so beautiful, I have read that rip tides, etc are common, so swim only in prescribed areas with life guards.

'Rumba Argelina', the debut Lp by the late great Madrid band 'Radio Tarifa'.
The world-music pride of Madrid and one of our all-time faves, never gets tired.

Just chiming in to say that I would not replace Seville with Madrid. I personally found Madrid to be nice but Seville was beautiful and fascinating, and just much more...unique. Then again, I was there in May, so the summer heat didn't factor into my experience.
