Southern Sardinia, Italy, who can help?

We, 4 female friends, are planning a week (16-23 May) to Southern Sardinia, Italy. We would like to find a comfortable and cosy self-catering apartment or holiday home for our stay. However we searched the net and have not yet come accross anything really nice. Most places have very basic furniture, and do not really evoke a feeling of comfort, like for instance the wonderful places in Tuscany will do. I would really appreciate any interesting suggestions. (We are flying to Cagliari).
Looking forward to hearing from you out there.

thanks, Catharyn

Catharyn,
I think I have the smart advice for you, a wonderful location, Southern than Cagliari and very lovely and comfortable place: RESIDENCE LANTANA.
Look at its website www.lantanahotel.com and search for the residence, not for hotel.
Reserve before April so that you save money.

Ciao, Vincenzo

Thank you Vincezo for your tip. I talked to them and they are going to send me some photo's of the interior of the apartment. We may prefer, as that is very importan to us, a cosy and comfortable sitting (more than just a sofa) area with fire place etc. As we like to e.g. just sit and talk in the evenings, not having one or two of us heaving to 'lounge' on a kitchen chair and taking turns!
I must say, I am having doubts about Sardinia, and Southern Sardinia. Is it just nice for beach lovers and hikers, and not so much for visiting historic places, with interesting markets etc. I have looked at so many houses now and nothing like the Tuscan places has come up.

I am kind of leaning towards going to Sicily or indeed Mallorca and Ibiza instead. Any suggestions as to good places to stay there?

Catharyn

Hi there,

I completely agree with your comments on the majority of villas in Sardinia... the Sardinia Villa Collection does have a boutiquey selection of villas all over Sardinia though; their site is being redesigned but try dropping them an email for more info
