You might want to check out previous threads with the keyword: Puglia (or Apullia). Its an amazing area and as yet undiscovered by most tourists.

We are trying to spend one week in southern Italy and a week in south east France. Is Amalfi, Sorrento and Capri reasonable to do in one week?

yes-Staying in Sorrento, you can easily get to both Amalfi and Capri by hydrofoil, or split your time between the 2 of the three places. You can take a Eurostar train to Naples and cathc a hydrofoil there to the Beverello port, where ther are hydrofoils

Stay in Sorrento.<BR>Try to get a hotel just off the main street. Try to avoid driving.
