South of France

We are planning to stay in St Remy during the first week of July. I am seeing hotels listed from $100 to $140 per night for double or queen. This sounds very reasonable for the height of the season. What should concern me. As in the adage, if it sounds to good to be true......

Can anyone recommend a property in St. Remy from their experience.

Not all European school holidays have started the first week of July. French schools are out from July 4. I know Dutch school holidays don't start till later in July. Belgians are on holiday from July 1st, but many won't leave until July 11.

First week of July is not the height of the season yet.
We are often on the Riviera from early July/late June, and find that it only gets really busy the week of the 14th of July. This year probably from Saturday 11th. And most tourists in France are French. They take advantage of the extra holiday on the 14th.

We stayed here - loved it, in that price range. Hotel Hostellerie du Chalet Fleuri 15, Avenue Frédéric Mistral www.hotel-lechaletfleuri.com/

Here's my trip report, we spent 5 days there. http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...swiss-alps.cfm

As said, it is still not high season in the beginning of July.

And St. Remy is not a main tourist destination (except for Americans). Most tourist prefer to stay at a beach hotel or in a larger town with more attractions.

I stayed at L'Hotel, Atelier des Images. It's right in town on the main street but once inside you wouldn't know it with Alpilles looking down at you
